Well after a few months of running I actually did it I competed in my first 10K. Like Lisa Sabin says I usually set up a few goals that I try to keep. For this race I had just 3 goals.
1. Run the whole way
2. Don’t finish last.
3. Finish under 60 Min.
Well I did 2 of the 3 so I am pretty happy. To explain why I didn’t hit my 3rd goal of finishing under 60 min is cause I never train with hills so when I hit this MONSTER of a hill it totally kicked my butt. I did run up the whole thing but after that I think my grandma and her walker could of passed me up. So in short I need to work on running up hills. I figured if I wrote it maybe Ill want to do it. Well I only have 2 more 5K’s before my half marathon so it is time that I get out there and hit some hills and lower my run time. Again thanks to all who sent me messages of encouragement it means a lot to me.

Just wanted to see if anyone out here was planning on running in this years Lewis and Clark marathon or Half Marathon? It is in St. Charles Missouri on Sunday September 14th starting at 6:45AM.
Thanks,

Well after 2 days of rest and thinking about why my 5K time went up I went to the gym and decided to keep a close watch on my time. I am happy to report the on Monday my 3.2 mile time was 30:38 (or something like that) and yesterday I ran the same distance in 27.34. I guess a couple of days rest really does do a body good. (or maybe it was the 14hrs or yard work the day before) either way I am really excited about running my 10K race this weekend so wish me luck.
Workout:
So when I started running today I felt great thought my stride was good my breathing felt great so I decided not to look at my watch cause I honestly thought I was running that fast. I was hoping that I would come in with a 25 to 28 5K time but when I crossed the finish line I had run a 30:34.
Not real happy with that time dont know what I was doing wrong. Oh well I dont need to run to hard this week since I have a 10K this saturday. Well wish me luck on the 10K this is my first one all I am looking for is lower time than an hour and to finish not in last place. Have a good week all!
Workout:
I am so happy that my body is holding out with being 255lbs and able to run 5 miles with out stopping. Since this was the 3rd day in a row with running it was a little off pace plus I got my butt kicked by the wind. Still had a lot of fun with it though. I have to keep an eye on what I eat but I think my weight is finally starting to move. I am trying right now to keep my runs set to Mon & Fri 3 Miles and Tues-Thur 5 Miles or more. Ill save my really long runs for the weekends that I don’t have any races. I have a 10K next Saturday so I know that this week I will keep my running to a nice pace but nothing that is gonna kill me. Till next time.

This was a blast! Got to run with my wife for the first mile and then her back was hurting too bad so she stopped and went over to do weight training so I just decided to keep up the pace we were running (cause she is faster then me) and ended up running a pretty good 5 mile time ,in my book. I love to run with my wife she is so motivating. (and HOT)
Workout:
Just needed to go on an easy run so I went over to the gym and ran 40 laps around the track. wasn’t too bad. I remember a day where I aspired to run 4 miles now I consider 4 miles an easy day. I love this stuff.

Well I did it I finished my second 5K. I would love to say that it was easy but over half of it was into a very strong blistering cold wind and it was not a gentle wind either. Plus this is my first time running a race to where half/most of the race was uphill too. I would like to think that I did pretty good since both of those conditions I have never trained for and I still dropped about a min off my total time. Now for the next few weeks I get to train for my 10K coming up on the 26th of April. That one also has a couple of nice hills in there but I now know that I need to work on my hill strength. Thanks to everyone for all the words of encouragement.
Workout:
Went for my daily lunch run and just ran at a 10min/mile pace just to get loose and ready for my 2nd 5K tomorrow morning. Over all had a good week of running hope to run a lot more next week.
